South Somerset Mind

Counselling

We began our service in April 2000 to provide counselling for those who cannot afford private fees or who cannot access G.P. cousellors.

Our counsellors are fully trained and working towards BACP accreditation or they are completing training hours to gain diplomas.

Counsellors work within the BACP Code of Ethics.

Our service is currently experiencing funding difficulties and is not able to take any new referrals - please contact your G.P. to access counselling through Primary Care.

Our clients may need help with:

  • Crisis support
  • Relationship / attachment problems
  • Resolving 'unfinished' past experience
  • Exploration of personality and self development
  • Personal responses to life's natural times of great demand

Clients may be experiencing states of:

  • Loss
  • Upheaval
  • Rigidity
  • Limbo
  • Change

What we offer:

  • Short, medium or long term help on a one to one basis
  • Weekly sessions of 50 / 60 minutes
  • Clients pay £3.50 per session with free critical assessment
  • Counsellors are supervised by an accredited supervisor which is standard practice
  • Counsellors work with a variety of counselling models. All of these lead clients towards finding their own solutions. An 'outcome' is not imposed.
