South Somerset Mind

Print Workshop

The Community Print Workshop is a service offered by South Somerset Mind to local voluntary community organisations.

Printing leaflets, posters, newsletters etc. can be a very time consuming process, tie up printers for long periods and be very expensive due to the cost of inkjet consumables. Sending print jobs to high street printers can also be very expensive (especially for small quantities) and often need to be submitted in particular formats which you may not have.

Community Print Workshop accepts work created in most office and desktop publishing programs and outputs print jobs through a high quality colour laser printer onto a variety of media types up to A3 size.Leaflets, brochures etc. can be collated and folded ready for distribution.

Community Print Workshop provides ‘meaningful occupation’ for a number of service users/survivors in the preparation of printed material and promotes a sense of purpose and inclusion in the local community.

IT Support / Training

IT support is available to people using 'open access' computers within the centre. Three computers are available with various programmes installed to enable database, spreadsheet and word processing.
All computers have up to 8Mb broadband connection which enables people to access information and entertainment via the world wide web.

IT training is delivered to a limited number of people (at present 5) and is based on the expressed interest of each individual.
First there is an assessment of current skills, then a step by step approach is tailored to progress each person towards their goal.

There is no entry level requirement for training, some of the trainees have little or no computer knowledge!
