Find out how you can help South Somerset Mind
Mental Health within the Farming Community is often overlooked. More than 20% of people working in farming suffer from depression, with an average of one farmer committing suicide each week. This is due to a number of reasons, including the fact that farming is a high pressure, 24/7 occupation. Furthermore, individuals who work within farming are predominantly male and are therefore less likely to reach out for support if they need it.
To help raise awareness of Mental Health in the Farming Community, South Somerset Mind are going to introduce #WellbeingWellies. We will be asking everyone on Social Media to snap a selfie of themselves in their wellies, upload it to Facebook/Twitter/Instagram using #WellbeingWellies & text MIND42 £3 to 70070 to donate to South Somerset Mind & show their support. We aim to raise awareness of the stresses farmers face daily, and raise funds to enable us to continue providing support to people who are struggling with their mental health. We know getting outside in the fresh air is really beneficial for your wellbeing, so put on your wellies, get out of the house and explore the great outdoors!
