Find out how you can help South Somerset Mind
Our Board of Trustees give their time and expertise free and are responsible for the overall control, management and strategic direction of the charity. They act collectively to ensure that our mission and long term aims of South Somerset Mind are met. Trustees have a legal responsibility to ensure our charity is complying with current legislation and governance best practice.
They currently meet on a monthly basis to consider progress against the strategic plan, the document that details where we want to be in three years’ time and how we intend to get there. They receive reports from senior managers noting achievements, approve and oversee new business development and spend our money sensibly.
Our Trustees are:
J Flory, Chairman
M Geatches, Company Secretary
W Webbe, Treasurer
Dr J Cox, Non-Executive Director
Jennie, our Chair, would love to hear from you. Jennie can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Read the Mind biography of Margaret. An ordinary person who simply wants to make a difference.
In 2008 when I was looking for experience in the Mental health field I
contacted South Somerset Mind, and discovered that I could gain the experience
by becoming a volunteer, intitially I thought I would stay for a few months to
gather the experience I was looking for, however I soon found that I was
relating well to the people who used the services, the staff and other
volunteers and the enjoying a variety of opportunities to work alongside them.
Currently I help with the Community Day held in the centre of town each Wednesday. With staff and other volunteers, I welcome newcomers, help people to build supportive relationships and participate in activities with them. Having had experience of mental ill health in my own family, I appreciate how valuable it is for people who are experiencing similar difficulties, to have somewhere to go where they can find acceptance and understanding.
