U in Mind was formed by service users at South Somerset Mind a few years ago.
It is a very flexible social group which meets on the second Monday of each month from 6.00pm till 8.00pm.
In 2007 the group joined the Somerset Active Living program which is designed to bring together local communities, volunteers and statutory organizations in a dynamic partnership to promote healthy lifestyles to improve the physical, emotional and social well being of people over 50.
The social group does a wide range of things, for example they have discussions on mental health and other matters & occasional outings - maybe a picnic in the park or a visit to an alternative therapy centre. Refreshments are always available. The highlight of the year is the Pilsdon Supper, arranged after the style of the Pilsdon Community - with a speaker and entertainment which is held in either November or December.
Anybody interested in mental health or who are isolated and want to meet new friends can come - no need to enquire. Just come!
(You don’t have to be over 50 and transport is available in you live outside of the Yeovil area please ring Marsha a week before you plan to come to find out more).
